The construction so far

We have been very excited this week; Entre-Prises arrived on Monday with a lorry full of our wall! After unloading, it did not take long for the framework to start going up, beginning with the area that will be the top-out boulder. They are installing the framework for the entire wall as the first stage and it means you can really get a sense of how the space will look when completed. Little by little, the wall is starting to appear out of the space that has been created for it.

We have also mapped out the spaces for the changing rooms, toilet and showers, which are now all under construction.

These will be under the mezzanine level, which so far has proved a lot of work to modify to what we want. Currently we have removed about half of what existed, including some large steels, and the staircase has been moved. Eventually this will hold our studio/conference space and have seating that overlooks the dedicated children's climbing area as well as the rest of the centre. The studio will be used for yoga and conditioning classes that will prove an exciting addition to the centre.

With the speed of the work going on it feels like we are rocketing towards a fully completed centre. We are currently setting up the IT systems, so hopefully we will be able to start registering members soon and even booking memberships for those who know they want it from when we open. Keep an eye out for more news on this to come!

The next step will be for Entre-Prises to install the supports that outline the more detailed features such as the prow of the top out boulder and the overhangs on other sections. It will be exciting to see the shapes develop and, as ever, we will post pictures of the wall as it develops.
